Meet the Report Team

Nana Afua Yeboah (Brantuo), Ph.D. is an interdisciplinary social scientist, policy analyst, and mixed methods researcher working across the federal government, nonprofit, philanthropy, and education sectors. Her work focuses on socioeconomic mobility and immobility, migration, education, and diaspora community politics, activism, and advocacy.

Miranda Hallett, Ph.D is an Associate Professor and Director of the Human Rights Studies Program at the University of Dayton. Her research focuses on issues such as the anthropology of human rights and state violence; identity and place-based justice; and intersectional oppression. Dr. Hallett also uses experiential learning and social action within her curriculum.

Ilyas Abukar is a researcher and Ph.D. candidate at the University of Maryland focusing on race, ethnicity, religion, immigration, and resettlement in the United States. He is also an immigrant from Somalia.

Lauren Hamlett is a J.D. Candidate at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, Class of '24 and Associate Editor of The Ohio State Journal of Criminal Law. She is a research organizer for this report and is writing the immigration law section.

Lynn Tramonte is Director of the Ohio Immigrant Alliance and a communications professional with over twenty years of experience. Anacaona is the name of her firm, and one of her heroes.
